AAA, the largest leisure travel organization in North America is conducting an annual Travel Challenge for high school students in grades 9 up to 12. The online registration for the travel challenge usually opens by December of every year and the first round of challenge start by January of the following year.
The first round is done online; the second is a State Competition that is usually done every March; and the last round is the National Competition that is normally held in May. This is sort of a trivia game challenge where contestants are being rewarded based on their knowledge in US and world geography with concentration on travel and tourism.

Best Buy announced the 16 National Scholars winners of $10,000 scholarship to the institution of their choice. Aside from the National Scholars, Best Buy will also award $1,500 each to another 1,726 students.
The scholarship funds will be distributed in August 2007. Best Buy reported that they received more than 67500 applications this year. These applicants were evaluated according to the students’ academic achievement and community involvement.

If you are a son or a daughter of a restaurant employee, you may be eligible to receive a scholarship that range from $500 to $5,000 from William F. Carl Scholarship Fund. This scholarship program aims to support the children of restaurant industry employees for their hard work and dedication that contributed to the growth and success of the industry.
William F. Carl Scholarship Fund is open to children of restaurant employee who are high school senior, high school graduate or current undergraduate college student and aged not more than 24 years old. They must enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study no later than September of the succeeding year of their application at any accredited college or vocational school in the United States.
Scholars may renew their scholarship if they managed to maintain a 3.0 GPA and submitted the scholarship renewal application. This scholarship is judged and chosen by the NC HEF board of trustees based on the academic achievement, extra curricular activities and gathered recommendations by the applicants. Application deadline is around January, so you need to apply by the last quarter of the year.
The Micron Science and Technology Scholars Program is a prestigious scholarship competition that is held every year to recognize the academic and leadership excellence of select students. This competition is held in Idaho, Utah, Texas, Colorado and Virginia. Micron selects 2 scholars from each of the five states; then 3scholarships will be further awarded within those states.
This program is a merit-based scholarship competition that awards a grand prize of a $55,000 college scholarship and up to twelve $16,500 scholarships. In addition, selected scholars also win a one-time $1,000 cash grant for their high school institution.
To qualify for this program, applicants must be high school senior who resides in and attends a public or private school in Idaho, Utah, Texas, Colorado and Virginia. They must have a combined SAT score of at least 1350 or a composite ACT score of at least 30 and unweighted GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. The applicants must also intend to study such field as engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry or material sciences
Application for this scholarship is available online beginning November of each year. Students can also get the application form at their high school counselor. Application and the requirements must be complete and submitted on or before June 19.
The North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association has several scholarships programs that are intended for students who would like to pursue a career in culinary arts, hospitality or tourism. They have an Education Foundation that awards annual scholarship for qualified students that are residing in North Carolina.
For senior high school students, the NC Education Foundation annually awards 10 $750 scholarships for two-year degree programs that can be renewed yearly for $1000. Students who will pursue a four year program will receive one time $1500 scholarship award. To qualify, you must be a resident in North Carolina and should be pursuing culinary arts, hospitality management, or tourism.
They also have similar scholarship program for currently enrolled culinary arts, tourism or hospitality undergraduate and graduate students. The award is $1500 which is not renewable but students may reapply again each year that they meet all the eligibility requirements.

But to be eligible for this scholarship, you must be less that 21 years old and should be a college freshman by Fall. Likewise, you can not apply directly for this scholarship because TCI accepts only applicants that were endorsed by the local club. You need to talk to your local club to endorse you and each local TCI can only endorse one candidate per calendar year.

Scholarship America, the biggest nonprofit, private-sector scholarship and educational support organizations recently announced its plan of $1.8 million information technology investment to empower its Scholarship Management Services to expand and enhance its services to current and new clients. The funding for the planned investment comes through a grant from USA Funds.
