I stumbled upon the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation and I learned that the foundation offer around 50 Undergraduate Transfer Scholarships to students who are attending community colleges or two-year institutions in the US and planning to transfer or further continue their studies in four-year institutions to complete a formal degree.
Although the award of scholarship varies based on the students’ cost of schooling, a student can avail as much as $30,000 scholarship money per year! This amount is actually very significant and a great help for any student who wants to earn a bachelor degree. But since this is not just an ordinary scholarship, interested students need to be nominated by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Faculty Representative at their institutions in order to apply for the scholarship.

For the year 2008, interested applicants should create 3 short essays describing the following topics/theme: Difficult situation that they successfully handled while on the job (250-350 words); The person whom you considered as your career role model and why (350-500 words); and How do you plan to contribute to your local community, your state and NRA during your career as a restaurant and food service professional (150-200 words).

This scholarship is offered to students of universities and colleges that are clients of Datatel. The scholarship award is $2,000 each and Russ Griffith Memorial scholarship selects a total of fifty scholars every year. To apply, the student needs to submit a maximum of 1000-word essay that discusses the impact of being a returning student, the challenges of combining life interests, such as work and family, along with school, and the importance of receiving a this scholarship to help achieve a dream.

The Wellstone Fellowship awards one an annual stipend of approximately $35,000 and excellent health care benefits to the lucky social justice fellow every year. This fellowship is designed to help black/African American, Latino, Asian and Pacific Islander, and Native American social justice leaders who are interested in health care policy.
This grant does not have any GPA requirement or a specific academic discipline preference to its applicants as long as they have a college degree and demonstrate a commitment to contributing to social justice work following their year of hands-on experience as a fellow.
