Charleston Symphony Orchestra League Offers Scholarship For Young Musicians

Aspiring musicians or students who want to pursue a major in music in college may check out Charleston Symphony Orchestra League Scholarship Program for young musicians.  The college awards $2,000 worth of scholarships to Charleston tri-county residents.

Eligible applicants are the graduating seniors, members of the Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry and Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Students who are planning to take summer music study may also apply.

To apply, interested students should audition at the Recital Hall, Simons Center for the Arts, 54 St. Philip Street. Audition for this year will be on March 2, 2009. Students must also have at least 2.5 GPA, SAT score of 1000 and recommendation letters. If chosen as scholars, the scholarship money will be paid directly to the program or music instructor.

Study Scholarships for Fine Arts, Architecture, Music & Dance

Students who are pursuing a degree in Fine Arts, Architecture, Music or Dance may find this scholarship from DAAD as a good opportunity to study in Germany. This scholarship program is specifically created for students under these artistic fields of study. The students can even complete a postgraduate degree course or obtain a degree from a German higher education institution using this scholarship program.

In order for the students to apply in Fine Arts, Architecture, Music & Dance Scholarship Program, they should be US or Canadian citizens and must not have been resident in Germany for more than 12 months. The applicants should also submit a well-defined study program or study project that necessitate their stay in Germany. Preference will be given to students who are invited a faculty member at a German university to study at a particular university department.

This scholarship awards a monthly stipend of €750 which is granted for one academic year. There are few number of scholars under two years grant that will be privileged to take a two-month language course. This scholarship program must be utilized during October 1, 2008 to July 31, 2009.
