I stumbled upon a scholarship essay writing contest that will award a total of $10,000 in prizes called the Resolve To Evolve Essay Scholarship. To submit an entry, you must register in Scholarship.com website
The Resolve To Evolve Essay Scholarship Contest is composed of three parts. The first part is where students will choose one topic that they would like to write about. For the year 2008 contest, the essay question or topic is the following:
Question #1 No Child Left Behind? Has the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 been successful in fulfilling its purpose? Why or why not?
Question #2 Higher Education at a Higher Cost. How has the rising cost of a college education affected students and families? What can the government do to offset any adverse effects or related financial pressures?
The second part of the contest entails the students to provide a brief essay or write-up that reflect why attending college is important to them and a short summary of their academic and career goals. The third part is letter of reference written by your teacher, adviser or parent and any adult relative that knows your character, capabilities and your potential as a possible scholarship recipient.
Seven students will be selected as winners of this scholarship essay. The first prize winner will receive $3,000; $2,000 for the second prize winner and there will be five runner-up winners who will receive $1,000 each.
The essay submission will start on December 1, 2007 and will end on March 31, 2008. All entries must be postmarked between these dates to be able to qualify. Winners will be announced on June 30, 2008 and awarding will be on July 31, 2008.
