California State Scholarships For California Women

Women who are residing in California may apply for scholarships being offered by The California State Chapter of P.E.O such as the Ruth G. White P.E.O. Scholarship, Ethel O. Gardner P.E.O. Scholarship, and Dorothy L. Weller P.E.O. Scholarship.

The Ruth G. White P.E.O. Scholarship is applicable for female students who are taking graduate degree of study in the field of medicine.  It awards approximately 25 scholarships every year amounting to $3000 each.

The Ethel O. Gardner P.E.O. Scholarship is open to all female students in California who are currently taking up any undergraduate or graduate degree in an accredited college. This scholarship offers 69 awards each year amounting to $500 – $1,500 scholarship money.

On the other hand, the Dorothy L. Weller P.E.O. Scholarship is for female Californian students who studying in the field of law. Eligible applicants are those who are enrolled in an accredited college or university or licensed paralegal school. They are awarding 18 scholarships every year with the amount of $1000 to $1500 each.

All of these scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria:
Integrity of character
Scholastic ability
School or community activities
Financial need

Marriott Scholarship Program Is Now Open

As early as this month, the application for Marriott Scholarship Program is now open. This scholarship is under the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation and is intended for women and minority students (Hispanic or African American) who are taking up hospitality management program such as hotel management, culinary or food degree programs.

Marriott Scholarship Program awards $10,000 annual tuition assistance per scholar and this may be renewed if the scholars maintain their good academic standing. To qualify for this scholarship, the applicants must be enrolled as full-time students in any accredited four-year college or university and must possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Interested applicants may apply online through the Hispanic College Fund (HCF) and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Women who are taking up hospitality management or culinary arts in Lexington College may also apply for Marriott Scholarship Program.

The Google’s 2009 Anita Borg Scholarship Application Is Now Open

The application for academic year 2009-2010 Google’s Anita Borg Scholarship Program is now ongoing. This scholarship is intended for female students who are entering their senior year in college or currently enrolled in graduate degree programs in the field of computer science or computer engineering.

And since this Google scholarship is a global program, female students studying in or outside United States regardless of their nationality are all welcome to apply for Anita Borg Scholarship. Previous applicants may also re-apply for this scholarship.

Chosen scholars will receive $10,000 each for the 2009-2010 academic year and Finalists will each receive$1,000 scholarship money. Selections of scholars are based on the strength of academic background and demonstrated leadership of the applicants.

The applications and requirements for Anita Borg Scholarship Program can be submitted online. First-time applicants will be required to register and create an account.  Applicants are also required to briefly answer three essay questions and to submit two letters of recommendation.

Microsoft Scholarship Is Now Available

Undergraduate students pursuing a degree in computer science and related technical disciplines may now apply for the 2009-2010 Technical Scholarships that are being funded by Microsoft Corporation.  Microsoft offers four types of technical scholarships namely General Scholarships, Women’s Scholarships, Underrepresented Minority Scholarships, and Scholarships for Students with Disabilities.

Qualified applicants are those who are currently attending a full time Bachelor’s degree program at any college or university in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. Students with different nationality can apply as long as they are studying in the aforementioned locations. Aside from this, other factors that may affect application include the students’ interest in the software industry, leadership commitment and financial needs.

To apply, applicants need to answer briefly the following essay in just one page of paper:
•    Describe how you demonstrate your passion for technology outside the classroom.
•    Describe the toughest technical problem you’ve worked on, how you addressed the problem, your role in reaching the outcome if it was team-based, and the final outcome.
•    Describe a situation that demonstrates initiative and your willingness to go above and beyond.
•    Describe how you are currently funding your college education.

Athena Group Scholarship For Finance Students

The Athena Group, L.L.C. is a real estate investment and development company in New York that provides scholarship opportunity for female undergraduate sophomore and undergraduate junior students who are majoring in Finance.  The scholarship amount is $7,000 and is usually awarded after the successful summer internship of the students in their company.

The Athena Group Scholarship can be applied by students living in the United States but preferences are given for students who are residing around New York Metropolitan Area or Northern New Jersey Region. The applicants must also meet the 3.0 minimum GPA requirement and must be studying in HBCU Schools or UNCF Member Colleges and Universities.

Calgon Scholarship

Calgon is women’s one of the favorite brands of body sprays and it is nice to know that it also offers scholarships for women who are going back to school to finish a degree, changing careers and getting a new degree, or going to college for the first time.

They have several scholarship programs but as of now, some of the programs are not yet available for application. However, I stumbled upon Homeschool Buyers Co-op website and found out that the essay submission for Calgon: Take Me Away Scholarship is until February 28, 2008. The first prize winner will win $5000 scholarship money.

Scholarship Program For Women Who Graduated In High School 10 Years Ago

There are actually many financially restricted women who were unable to enroll in college or any vocational courses after they graduated in high school because of high cost of education. But now these women who graduated ten years ago or more (on or before September 1998) can finally have a chance to study in college or take a vocational or technical program because the Talbots Charitable Foundation has a special scholarship program for them.

The Talbots Women’s Scholarship Fund, will give away award a total of $100,000 in scholarships to women who are determined to finally get their college degree. Five women scholars will each receive $10,000 scholarships to pursue a 4 year degree program while 50 $1,000 scholarships will be given to women seeking vocation courses.

Scholarship For Women Aged 40 And Above

Scholarship is not only for young generation because even adults ages 40 and above can still find some scholarship programs that are specifically created to help adults who want to engage in life long learning or continuous education. One good example is the scholarship program by AARP Foundation.

They have this Scholarship Program that is intended for women aged 40 and above who are seeking for new job skills, training, and educational opportunities to support themselves and their families as well as to improve their communities.

The AARP Foundation Women’s Scholarship Program is open for application until October 31, 2007. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and should submit a proposal for enrollment in a not-for-profit, post-secondary school or training program within 6 months of the scholarship award date.

Likewise, all applicants must have valid email address to complete the application and be able to use the access code of AFWSP. Women who are in jobs with insufficient pay, grandmothers or other female relatives with significant financial responsibility for one or more children of another family member and females who are returning to the workforce after an extended absence are the priorities of this scholarship program.

Scholarship Programs From University of Illinois at Springfield

The University of Illinois at Springfield has approximately 100 available scholarships every academic year. Incoming college freshmen who wish to enroll at this university may start applying by December.

Some of the UIS scholarships are the Joe Wilkins Scholarship, the Grace Brorstrom Oakley Scholarship, the Lee Frost-Kumpf Scholarship and the Don Stanhope Scholarship. The Joe Wilkins Scholarship is intended for undergraduate or graduate UIS students who enrolled in the College of Business and Management.

The Grace Brorstrom Oakley Scholarship is a $1000 scholarship assistance for continuing part-time or full-time undergraduate students enrolled in an online degree program at UIS who are achieving well academically. Students who will apply for this scholarship must only be enrolled in online courses at a distance. Likewise, this scholarship program gives preference to single mothers who returned to higher education.

The Lee Frost-Kumpf Scholarship is the scholarship program of UIS for their eligible students who are taking up a master’s degree in political studies or public administration. On the other hand, the Don Stanhope Scholarship is for those students who are taking a degree in accounting. This scholarship is renewable for up to three years but requires a 3.3 minimum GPA. The deadline for application for University of Illinois at Springfield scholarships is on March 1.

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship

The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship awards six $5000 scholarships every year which may be used at any university, college or institute offering accredited courses and degrees. This scholarship is intended to women who are studying business at the undergraduate level that demonstrated excellence and outstanding potential in their course of study.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, the female students must be in the third or fourth year of their first undergraduate degree program at any accredited institution at the time the scholarship funds are received. They also need to have outstanding academic record during the first two-three years of academic studies.

Likewise, they need to secure two confidential letter of recommendations from their faculty member and academic adviser or supervisor and must write not more than 500-word essay that describe their academic and professional goals, the relevance of their program to the business field and how the Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship will assist them in reaching their goals.
