Mildred Colodny Scholarship for Graduate Study in Historic Preservation

The Mildred Colodny Scholarship Program is intended for individuals preparing who want to pursue careers in historic preservation in the United States. This scholarship is open to students in their final year of undergraduate study intending to enroll in a graduate program in historic preservation such as History, Architecture, American Studies, Urban Planning, Museum Studies, and other related studies with primary emphasis on Historic Preservation.

The amount of funding for this scholarship is up to $15,000 towards graduate school tuition; a $5,000 stipend for a summer internship with the National Trust following the student’s first year of study; and up to $1,500 towards the student’s attendance at a National Preservation Conference.

The selection of scholar will be based both on the student’s financial need and academic performance. Other significant factors for this scholarship include promise shown for future achievement, commitment to working in preservation in the United States following graduation and potential to help increase diversity within the preservation movement.

Only new applicants are encouraged to apply because previous scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply anymore.  Scholarship application is due every 28th of February and winner will be announced by April of the same year.  For any other inquiry, applicant may contact the Colodny Scholarship Coordinator at 800-944-NTHP x 6124.
