Scholarship For New England-based Architecture Students
The contest is called the Montage/Arclinea Contemporary Design Scholarship Competition which is open to all college and graduate students of architecture and design programs who are currently enrolled or studying in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Connecticut educational institution.
The contest entails the participants to design one of two floor plans of a contemporary kitchen or living area within the traditional, historic architecture of Boston and its suburbs. For this year, participants can either design a 975 square feet of renovatable space in a city brownstone or a 950 square feet of renovatable space in a suburban Victorian.
All entries must contain ¼” scale floor plan with furniture rendered; ¼” elevation of the kitchen; detailed listing of furniture pieces, products, and appliances used in the design; 2 sketch perspectives of 2 different areas of the design; materials board featuring floors, walls, furnishings, fabrics, and window treatments as well as the not more than 750-word narrative explanation of the design and concept used.
The finished design must be mounted for display on 30” by 40” presentation boards which should not exceed 2 presentation boards. Students with the winning designs will receive scholarship money amounting to $5,000, $3,000, and $2,000 for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively.
Even part-time students can join in this contest as long as they can present a proof of their enrolment for the period January 2007 until June 2007.
