Student Won $100,000 College Money From Siemens Math And Science Contest

Dmitry Vaintrob, a senior student from Oregon won $100,000 college money from the Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology. Dmitry’s entry for the said competition was a research in an innovative area of mathematics called string topology.

The achievement of this high school senior is really amazing because according to Michael Hopkins, the competition judge and a professor of mathematics at Harvard, Dmitry’s research can be categorized at the Ph.D. level, publishable and already attracting the attention of researchers.

Aside from the $100000 that Dmitry won, there are also several other students and teams of students also won prizes in the science competition that gave them college money from $50,000 to $100,000.
